BotDetect CAPTCHA: Free Version Limitations
The free version of BotDetect Captcha has certain limitations. If you want to remove them, you can purchase a license of the full BotDetect version.
1. BotDetect Watermark in CAPTCHA Images
The free version of BotDetect has a 50% chance of including a randomized BotDetect™
watermark in the background of generated Captcha
images.
You can see how the Captcha image would look without the watermark by reloading it.
Upgrade
When using a paid version, the watermark is never added to Captcha images, making them easier to read.
2. Demo CAPTCHA Sound
The free version of BotDetect has limited sound functionality, replacing the Captcha sound with "SOUND DEMO" for randomly selected 50% of all Captcha codes.
Sound Demo
|
This means that for 50% of all Captcha challenges generated, the sound will not match the code shown in the picture. The free version sound is not suitable for real world use, and only allows you to test the sound functionality before buying, or turn it off completely if you don't need it.
Upgrade
The paid versions allow you to make your Captcha protection accessible with true sound functionality.
3. Fixed CAPTCHA Link
The free version of BotDetect reserves the bottom 10px of each Captcha image for a link to the BotDetect website.
You can alter the link text, or change the link rendering mode so it is added to the whole Captcha image without any visible text instead -- but you can not turn it off or customize its destination.
Upgrade
When using a paid version, you can change the Url the Captcha help link points to or turn the link off completely.
4. Remote CAPTCHA Script Include
The free version of BotDetect also adds a JavaScript include loaded from the captcha.com
domain
(remote.captcha.com/include.js
). Its future uses include, but are not limited to, statistics collection and proof-of-work
confirmation (still work in progress).
Upgrade
When using a paid version, you can disable the remote script include in BotDetect configuration.
5. Restricted Persistence-Providers Availability
Simple API:
The following persistence-providers are not available: Redis, Memcached.
Upgrade
When using a paid version, all persistence-providers are available.
6. Limited Number of Protected URLs per Domain
In the free version, you are not allowed to use Botdetect Captcha on more than 1000 Urls per domain. The number of different websites and domains on which the free version can be used is not limited, as long as the 1000 Urls per domain limit is respected.
Upgrade
The paid versions don't have this limitation.
7. TestModeEnabled Option is Restricted
Application configuration switch to use if you want to run automated tests (that need to be able to submit a Captcha-protected form in QA environments) is restricted to paid versions of BotDetect only.
Upgrade
When using a paid version, you can enable the test mode in BotDetect configuration.
8. Limited numbers of Captcha Image Styles
The free version of BotDetect Captcha contains selected 50 image styles, while other image styles are restricted to paid version only.
Upgrade
When using a paid version, all image styles are enabled.
9. Limited numbers of Captcha Sound Styles
The free version of BotDetect Captcha contains selected 10 sound styles, while other sound styles are restricted to paid version only.
Upgrade
When using a paid version, all sound styles are enabled.
